Limit Ammo, Limit Liberty

Gun control advocates want the government to place limits on the rounds of ammo a magazine can hold if it is to be sold to private citizens.  They point out that you don't need high capacity magazines to hunt or target practice.  Gun control advocates labor under the misguided notion that if we were all as defenseless as the Children and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary it would solve the issue of gun violence.  That notion is false, still, I concede their point.  I don't need a high capacity magazine to hunt or practice but that isn't relevant.  Where I may need high capacity magazines is for self defense.  If I am in a situation where I'm defending myself or my family from a number of determined attackers, a high capacity magazine comes in quite handy.  I don't carry a sidearm with the intent of using it.  In fact I hope I never have the need.  I carry my sidearm because if the need arises I want it available for defense.  Likewise I would like to have the option to carry sufficient ammo to reasonably meet any self defense scenario that arises.  Once again, it isn't my intent to expend large quantities of ammo but if the need arises I want to be prepared.  Still even this reasoning is not relevant to the central question at hand because none of these situations have anything to do with the purpose of the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment is in place as a safeguard against tyranny.  It's purpose is a check and balance against our own federal government.  It is designed to help keep this nation free by deterring our elected federal officials with the threat of armed resistance if they ignore the constitution and the rule of law and begin to oppress the people or states.  When seen in this light, access to high capacity magazines by law abiding citizens doesn't seem so unreasonable, does it?  When we consider that the Social Security Administration has put out a solicitation for 174,000 rounds of hollow point ammo and the Department of Homeland Security has put out a solicitation for over 1.6 billion rounds of ammo why would it make sense to limit private citizens.   If they really want to impose ammunition limits perhaps the federal government agencies should start with themselves?

Many of our federal government officials as well as our citizens don't understand the purpose of the Second Amendment.  What's even worse, their actions make it even more difficult for poorer citizens to exercise their God given right of self defense. Look at the defenseless people in our inner cities who daily are in jeopardy from the lawless.  These areas where governments have disarmed the law abiding are the most dangerous in our nation.  Shootings like Columbine and Sandy Hook are targeted because the perpetrators know they are defenseless.   In fact, the murderers at these tragedies killed themselves as soon as it was clear they faced armed resistance.  Sadly we seem to be unable to learn from history, law or common observation.  It seems all our federal government is concerned with is how to retain power and how to spend more money.  God has a better way for governments to prosper.

Proverbs 28:15 - 16 - As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.  The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

How our government views the law abiding.

What does it say about the attitude of government officials towards government "of the people, by the people and for the people, " when they lobby and legislate as if the law abiding are their greatest threat?  They don't enforce laws on the books and then legislate so as to increase the burden on the law abiding and lower the bar of felony. This serves only to intimidate the law abiding into surrendering their rights.  The criminal will not be deterred by such means.  What our government cannot seem to comprehend is that the greatest deterrent to the law breaker is the law abiding.

Proverbs 28:4 - They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Dear Muslims....

I noticed the news stories awhile back about the riots and demonstrations against the film short "Innocence of Muslims." I can sympathize with your frustration at what you perceive as blasphemy against your prophet and your god. Despite your pretense of honoring the LORD Jesus Christ, we Christians have endured your blasphemy against Him for centuries.  For all your supposed honoring of Jesus Christ as a prophet, you deny what He said about Himself.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Despite the consistent denial and blasphemy against the Savior by Muslims and members of other such pagan religions, we don't try to kill you for it.  You will answer to Him soon enough and that is precisely the point.  We are content to let you answer for your sins if you choose but we would rather tell you how much this Savior you blaspheme loves you and how He already answered for your sins when he shed His sinless blood as payment for the very sins mankind (including you) have committed against Him.  He proved that He paid that price in full when He rose from the dead.

Now I know that when you think of Christianity you think of Catholicism's crusades and America’s alliance with Israel and I can understand why.  It’s a whole lot easier to justify your murderous passions by creating a straw man than to actually read the words of the Lord Jesus Christ such as:

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:44-48)

Jesus also said from the cross as the Jews and gentiles mocked Him as He died for their sins:

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. (Luke 23:34)

As misguided as the crusades were, it should be noted that they were a response to your bloody conquests of the Middle East in the name of your prophet and your god.  It’s not like they invaded Mecca right?  Oh wait, I forgot.  That’s where you proudly declare YOUR conquests started.  In fact your whole religion is a religion of murder and conquest and has never been a religion of peace.  You really ought to stop whining about it and acting so hypocritically since your own state/religious crusades are legendary.  Your so called "peaceful" followers continue to murder Christians and other who disagree with your religion.  The only reason you continue to whine about Catholicism's crusades is to justify your own.  You are the epitome of the type of people the LORD Jesus spoke of when He said:

...yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. (John 16:2)
